Compasses
- One Plath fibre optic gyro compass (no moving parts), type
Navigat 2100, 24V.
- One B&G Halcyon gyro-stabilised
compass as backup (12V).
- 1 magnetic compass above the central
console in the cockpit with pick up coil for information
to the autopilot (as back up for the gyro; the B&G unit isn’t
fast enough).
The Plath and B&G compass information can be fed through
the B&G system to instruments all over the yacht.
The gyro compass has repeaters at each steering console
and the main unit is positioned in the deck house.
GPS
One Leica DGPS and one Leica black box GPS (24 V) are both connected
to the main nav/com system via a NMEA distribution box.
B&G
One B&G Hydra 2000 system (12 V) with
two speed sensors, one echo sounder, masthead unit, air
and sea temperature sensors and barometric pressure sensor.
This system has also a sensor for the pressure on the inner
forestay, in order to set the running backstays correctly.
Instrument Readouts
- 3 FFD units at each steering console.
- 6 20x20 units at the forward part of
cockpit (readable from either helmsman’s position).
- 4 FFD units in deckhouse.
- 2 20x20 units each at aft end of forward and aft deckhouses
- 7 FFD units, one each at crew entry
hatch coaming, captain’s
cabin, crew mess, captain’s office, library, owner’s
cabin and aft deckhouse.
Echo Sounders
Apart from the echo sounder in the B&G
system Adèle has
one extra B&G H-1000 unit with the transducer placed
aft to measure death behind the rudder, when reversing.
Two Furuno echo sounders (24V) with LCD screens are placed
in the central console in steering cockpit.
Radars and Chart System
We have two Furuno X-band radars type FR 2115 black box (24V).
The antennas are located on the forward face of the mizzen mast.
One electronic chart system (Transas Navisailor) runs on a dedicated
navigation computer.
We have two 18” colour monitors in
the deck house on the starboard side, one for radar picture
and one for charts (with possible radar overlay). On the
port side is also an identical screen for the planning computer
(see below).
One 18” colour monitor (watertight, totally sealed, ultra
bright) is placed in the central console in the steering cockpit.
This monitor can show both radar and charts with possible radar
overlay. The functions are controlled via joystick/mouse.
Navtex / Weatherfax
One Navtex receiver is connected to the navigation computer,
so that Navtex information will show up on the charts. Another
Furuno Navtex receiver NX-500 has printout on thermal paper.
Weather fax and Navtex software is installed
on the captain’s
computer system for receiving weather fax and Navtex messages,
stored automatically on the captain’s computer (can be
distributed from there to all computers). The computer controls
an ICOM receiver in the captain’s office.
