Fire fighting equipment has been described
under “Systems”.
The distress communication takes place via Satcom C, SSB
or VHF, all with DSC and GPS input. Adèle also
has three portable watertight VHF’s.
Adèle has furthermore:
- 3 x 10-persons liferaft in a locker amidships aft of mast.
- 2 Jon Buoy recovery modules at pushpit.
- 2 horseshoe buoys with lamps and floating lines.
- 1 line throwing appliance 260 m.
- 2 EPIRB Jotron GMDSS emergency beacons with built in GPS
transmitting via satellite and on 406 and 121.5 MHz.
- First aid kit according to MCA.
- Survival suits for 20 persons in arctic waters
- Hypothermia bag and Oxygen warmer to revive a person falling
overboard in arctic waters.
Adèle has watertight bulkheads forward (behind
the forepeak) and aft (in front of the aft deckhouse), around
the engine room and also immediately aft of the mast. This last
bulkhead has a sliding watertight door, which can be closed hydraulically.
There are two different bilge pump systems, of which the large
system has two electrical pumps and a third emergency diesel
driven pump that can be connected from deck.
Adèle has normal life jackets
(according to MCA specification) plus special inflatable
ones that are carried in a belt around the waist (for tropical
daysailing in settled conditions) for the total compliment
of crew and owner’s
party.
There is no gas or petrol on board.
Security
We have an intruder alarm if anyone steps on board, connected
to interior alarms and flood lighting on deck. If someone steps
on board the CCTV cameras will automatically turn to that spot
and the control/alarm panels will switch from whatever function
they were showing to showing the picture from the cameras.
Environment
Black water is treated in a water treatment plant before it
is pumped out. Bilges are pumped out via a bilge separation system
that separates the oil first. The sludge oil is kept in a separate
tank and pumped back ashore.
